With some simple science, water, salt, and vinegar, mixed with electricity creates the powerful and versatile solution simply called, electrolyzed water. 

Electrolyzed water is a cleaning and disinfecting agent. It’s more than that though. It’s used in wound healing and in an array of other ways. But we’ll get to that.

So is it just vinegar water?

Sodium hydroxide (NaOH) is a common detergent used at different concentrations in products ranging from toothpastes and skin moisturizers to sunscreens.

Hypochlorous acid (HOCl), is the same substance your immune system produces to fight infections, and is a natural disinfectant & sanitizer that’s as powerful as bleach. 

Finally vinegar is included to lower the pH (acidity) of the solution to ensure the right concentrations of hypochlorous acid (HOCI) & sodium hydroxide (NaOH) are created.

A multi-purpose cleaner, disinfectant, and deodorizer... as powerful as bleach...WITHOUT toxic chemicals or fumes? It must be too good to be true! 

But it is true. The result of this chemistry is, electrolyzed water, a cleaner, disinfectant and deodorizer that’s just as effective as conventional cleaners without the toxic chemicals, residues or fumes. The concentration of sodium hydroxide is tiny at just 0.0000003% – vs conventional cleaning products which have up to 5%. 

As powerful as bleach, yet so gentle it is used in eye, wound, and veterinary care and is safe enough to be used in food applications. It’s even FDA approved for produce preservation and for use in organic crop production! 

So why haven't you heard of it?

A couple reasons.

First, until recently, the technology needed to create electrolyzed water was large and extremely expensive. So it while it has been around for years and used in a number of industries, including hospitals, schools, and restaurants. The cost and size of the equipment made it completely unfeasible to have in the average household.

Secondly, the reason you haven't seen it in stores is because hypochlorous acid (the main component of the solution) dissipates over time. So it would lose its efficiency sitting on a store shelf.
